10% of conflicts are
due to difference
in opinion.
90% are due to wrong
tone of voice.
QUOTLING.COM
Conflict is something that occurs when two or
more people experience disagreements upon
something and can lead to an argument. The
quote, “10% of conflicts are due to differences
in opinion. 90% of conflicts are due wrong tone
in voice” – Eve Marks. This quote illustrates that
a small portion of conflicts occur because
people have disagreements in thing but a large
portion of conflict occurs because of how
people communicate. I believe that in any
setting, people can avoid conflict if they just be
mindful of how the communicate information to
other people. In the workplace, managers often
let their title make them forget who they are and
they start demanding things to get done using
an unpleasant tone and this often leads to
conflict

conflict.
We can resolve conflict by having a single
conversation to helps others understand what
you were initially trying to say and guide them
see things your way or they can help you see
things their way. As I mentioned previously,
90% of conflicts are due to the wrong tone.
This means that when trying to resolve
conflicts, everyone should be mindful of their
tone and should try to voice their opinion
without getting aggressive. According to the
textbook, there are three different types of
conflict and they are; simple conflict, ego
conflict, and lastly pseudo-conflict. Each type
of conflict can take place in different settings,
therefore it is important that we understand the
difference in types.
Pseudo-conflict can be defined as conflict that
is triggered by a lack of misunderstanding and
miscommunication. This type of conflict often
takes place in the workplace or maybe even the
classroom when a group of people do not
communicate effectively and this leads to
confusion among everyone. Furthermore,
Simple conflict can be defined as conflict that
stems from different ideas, definitions,
perceptions, or goals. This type of conflict
typically takes place in the workplace and often
during meetings. When the opportunity to voice
opinions open, too many different opinions can
lead to conflict and that's not a good look for a
company. Lastly, ego conflict can be defined as

conflict in which the original issue is ignored as
partners attack each other's self esteem. This
type of conflict takes place during relationships
and sometimes even friendships. Everyone has
an ego and their ego is very important to their
personal so when partners or friends let their
ego cause conflict then that's never a good
sign. In a relationship when one partner doesn't
like something but they don't say anything
because they know how their ego is, they will
ignore it until the problem becomes too big to
handle.
