For your final project in this class, you will research and write a formal paper that uses a communication theory to identify, describe, analyze, and possibly resolve a real-world communication problem in your workplace.* The project will be completed through a combination of discussion board activities and written assignments each week.

(*Students who are not employed or who cannot discuss their workplaces may use a communication problem they have experienced in another organizational setting in which they are involved, such as in school or as part of a church or community group.)

Objective: This final project is intended to help you understand how knowledge of communication theory supplements the skills you will need to succeed in their careers or personal lives. By completing it, you will achieve the following outcomes:

Develop a research question on an authentic workplace* communication problem

Conduct a relevant academic literature review about a communication theory

Explore your assumptions about the role communication plays in a specific setting in your life

Exercise your critical thinking/analytical skills in researching and analyzing an authentic workplace* communication problem

Apply principles of communication theory to explain and recommend a potential resolution a real-world communication problem.

Requirements

Your paper should clearly state your position on, and conclusions about, the workplace* communication problem that you posed in your research question. This means your

thesis statement

must be supported by researched evidence and reasons, including discussion of at least one relevant communication theory studied in this course.

It should be 5-7 pages in length (excluding cover page and reference page)

Lack of employee motivation in the organizational workstations is among the leading
communication problems affecting the efficiency in productions and operations of the firm. Lack
of motivation may arise from the lack of efficient communication among the employees or even
by means of how the management treats the employees. In the organizations, lack of motivation
causes an impact on every individual’s performance and requires an efficient understanding of
the causes to ensure these are efficiently handled. In this case, a useful communication theory to
consider may include the Social Learning Theory that would adequately ensure efficiency in
solving the issue of the lack of motivation at work.
The Social Learning Theory is a communication theory that argues on the importance of
individuals learning from each other and primarily through techniques that include observation,
imitation and modelling one’s behavior attitudes and their emotional reactions towards work and
towards their teammates, and employers and vice versa. The social learning theory is quite
significant as it tends to explain the techniques of shaping human behavior through interactions
between the cognitive, behavioral, and environmental influences.
According to the article by Allan (2017), social learning is a communication theory that
includes an aggressive means through which people can learn from each cognitive and
behavioral analysis of the individual. According to the article, the social learning theory works as
the most influential communication theory in different places, and such includes workstations.
The communication theory can adequately be used in the organizations among the management
teams and employees to enhance teamwork in the organization and motivation among all the
team members. Through the implementation of the social learning theory, the leaders in the
organizations would not only influence but also motivate the employees to enhance the
transformation of the working environments too, more conducive environment.

Lee & Lee (2018), argues that social learning is a communication theory that assists in
improving employee performance in most of the organization. The author argues that social
learning theory works best when the employees are self-motivated. Additionally, the author tells
that the organization and its employees need to ensure the implementation of efficient
communication tools through which the employees are motivated to perform their duties more
efficiently. The article further suggests the importance of using social media platforms for the
motivation of the employees as the social media helps to increase awareness and thus a more
improved learning environment for the employees. Through self-motivation, the article
enlightens that the employees can efficiently boost their performance levels in the workstations,
and thus could help the management teams to ensure motivation.
The communication behavior perceived by the employees and the management teams in
any organization tends to contribute a lot to the growth of their performance at work. According
to the article by Mojtahedi (2017), it is quite essential for the workstations to effectively embrace
the social learning theory as this ensures awareness among all team members. Additionally, the
implementation of the theory provides knowledge of the different individual perspectives,
attitudes and thus understanding the different beliefs of working designs among the team
members. The article indicates that the use of the social learning communication theory in the
organization, it would help to enhance a positive working environment and thus motivation to
the employees. Also, this helps to create organizational change in the workplaces and therefore,
essential to implement the theory.
Based on the above analysis on the efficiency of the social learning theory it is essential
to understand that the implementation of the approach in the organizations would help to solve
the issues of lack of motivation at work. Lack of motivation tends to reduce employee

the employees and the leaders to help influence and motivate all the involved teams at work.
Based on the analysis, the implementation of the theory can assist in enhancing change and

above, the social learning theory tends to boost the individuals’ self-motivation levels and thus
ensure positive environments at work to provide a boost in their operations.

application of numerous theories. In this case, the application of the social learning theory will
be effective in ensuring that employees can communicate in a way that motivates the behaviors
of others. The application of social learning theory ensures that motivation of the right behavior
is achieved while promoting efficiency within the workplace and a high level of positive

that good behavior can be copied from the role models within it.

The article considers ban exploration of student-based settings that reflect on student
volunteers and their commitment to university work. In this case, it explores the aspect of prosocial motivation that keeps their behavior; hence they can relate more than one involvement.
The article is accurate in terms of how it makes clear research on the commitment aspects people
can have while volunteering and serving other roles. The author is currently a PhD student at
Monash University. The article will be a crucial resource to the research in determining how the
right behaviors can easily be learned and maintain effectiveness at work hence promoting
responsiveness to communication that will lead to employee improvement.
