What does anarchy mean?
Anarchy is the state of a society existing without a governing body or authorities where the society or the
community rejects governmental authorities in favor of self-governance or community consensus.
(Agamben, 2020)
Anarchy resounds along with basic principles like anti-authoritarianism. Anarchists are much skeptical
about authorities’ needs and believe that everybody should control their own lives and equal say in
group decisions. Anarchists believe in free association, associate freely with the people they choose and
dissociate themselves whenever they want. Social relations should not be forced on individuals as
societies should be based on free agreements than coercion.
Another principle for anarchists is mutual aid, whereby social relations should be based on solidarity and
voluntary cooperation. They believe that when individuals voluntarily help one another, they accomplish
more than when they work against each other. They also campaign for freedom as they want liberty or
the freedom to control their lives instead of being controlled by others. Controlling people’s lives is
restricting their freedom. Anarchists believe in the principle of self-management. People should govern
themselves rather than dividing people into classes where some give orders and some obey them.
On the feminism principle, anarchists advocates for equality for men and women. They believe men’s
dominion over women should be abolished, and people should be given equal opportunities socially,
politically, or economically.
Additionally, anarchists believe in radical egalitarianism with the basic concept of equal distribution of
wealth. Anarchy advocates that wealth and power should be a privilege to everybody rather than few
individuals.
