Employee Motivation and Engagement
● Employee Motivation is the force or fuel which
pushes employees to perform.
● Engagement is a sense of purpose, belonging, and
commitment.
● On the other side, motivation is related to
willpower and the necessary drive to perform.
● Both employee motivation and engagement are
necessary for better organizational performance.
Drivers of Employee Motivation and Engagement
● Recognition and rewards
help in motivation.
● Healthy work
environment results in
highly motivated
employees.
● Both intrinsic motivation
and extrinsic motivation
need to be explored.
● Leadership style has a
significant impact on
employee motivation.
Drivers of Employee Motivation and Engagement
● Employee engagement is a factor of
belonging and active involvement in
the works of an organization.
● Pride in the work of an organization
acts as a barometer of engagement.
Hence organization needs to work on
this.
● Leadership style: McGregor’s Theory Y
leadership style promotes engagement
while Theory X leadership style can
suppress it.
● Well-being and office culture act as
the key driver.
