In this case study, a new CEO urges his board to move toward becoming an accountable care organization and promoting regional population health, which demands choosing among three common approaches to navigating the challenges and opportunities of developing a clinically integrated network. This case study profiles the history, challenges, and opportunities related to development of a clinically integrated network and the sponsoring organization’s quest to become an accountable care organization and engage in managing population health.

Unit Learning Outcomes

Explain why more hospitals in southeast Idaho have not joined PQA.

How would you recruit more hospitals and clinicians in southeast Idaho, and how would you market PQA to them and other stakeholders?

Develop a timeline showing PQA’s key accomplishments.

How would you prioritize and operationalize PQA’s proposed 2017-2019 goals?

You have been assigned by the PQA board to analyze the network’s readiness to participate in CMS-sponsored ACO programs. What criteria can be used to determine its rediness?

Submission Expectations:

The submission should reflect higher-level cognitive processing (analysis, synthesis, and evaluation), which is essential for someone being prepared to serve in an operational capacity within the healthcare and related industry.

To earn the maximum number of points, the submission should reflect graduate-level execution with clear evidence of critical thinking, synthesis of relevant information from credible sources, and clear mastery of the concepts necessary to successfully execute each component of the assignment.

The submission should not exceed four (4) pages in length, excluding the title and reference list pages, and explicitly address all required components of this assignment.

The document must be double-spaced, adhere to the APA writing style (7th ed.), and include at least three (3) references of credible or peer-reviewed sources to support any suppositions and recommendations.

Finally, the document should be prepared as a Microsoft Word document and uploaded to Submit Assignment.
