This is a cohesive, professional paper; personal pronouns are unacceptable, and inclusive language must be used that is gender-neutral, non-sexist, and culturally unbiased. (It is understood that this is your group’s philosophy, because you wrote it!) A series of definitions of health and health education is not a philosophy. Transition statements within and between paragraphs are essential. This assignment is not judged on the number of references used.

Talia Ghazarian:
The overall health of an individual stems from many factors that include a combination of the
physical, emotional, environmental, and social aspects of a human being. The impact health
education and the health of each individual has on others is of great value. According to the
World Health Organization (WHO) “the achievement of any State in the promotion and
protection of health is of value to all†(World Health Organization, 2021). Promoting the
importance of health is crucial in creating a community and environment that empowers
individuals in choosing healthy behaviors and to keep not only themselves healthy but others. By
acknowledging changes that need to be made and attempting to push for greater achievement for
the overall health of individuals is essential in everyday life.
Childhood obesity is a significant issue in today’s world that continues to take rise in unhealthy
behaviors and risk factors. This specific population is one that requires extra attention as it is the
future generation that looks up to those who educate and influence behavior change. The risk
factors associated with poor health for children and adolescents can cause severe damage to their
bodies. Examples of these risk factors may include “cardiovascular diseases, diabetes,
osteoarthritis, and moreâ€Â(World Health Organization, 2021). Not only does it affect the physical
health, it can severely affect the social and mental state of that child as well. Children go through
a developmental stage within this time of their lives where they are adapting to their
environments and figuring out what and who they want to be. Implementing and educating
children on nutrition and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle is significantly important.
Juan Guerra:
As mentioned above, childhood obesity is a problem that grows every day. It is the responsibility
of the health authorities and the community to face this problem that afflicts the children’s
community. Health educators have the duty of guiding the community to prevent this childhood
problem. In the same way, the health authorities should provide means that educate families
about both physical and mental health in child obesity. Health education in the aspect of
childhood obesity must take into account the behaviors, attitudes, and abilities of children to face
this problem. This health problem must be taken into account seriously since the year after year
childhood obesity increases causing all kinds of chronic diseases and deaths among this
population. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that “Obesity during
childhood can harm the body in a variety of ways. Children who have obesity are more likely to
have High blood pressure and high cholesterol, which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease”
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2021).
In general, the goal of health educators is to increase quality of life by creating awareness
of health through teaching health literacy. Health education should include personal health and
that of others by educating the behavior and skills (Melendez & Thompson, 2020). An effective
health program should be established for everyone in the target population despite people’s
socioeconomic status, gender, age, religions and communal challenges. In regard to the obesity
issue, health educators should be able to emphasize health consequences of obesity and the risk
factors associated with the preventable disease. Educational material of the comprehensive
program should focus more on preventing the onset of disease rather than disease management.
Children should be provided with correct health knowledge in order to reduce risk factors, allow
them to make healthy decisions, as well as enhance the likelihood of building up a healthy
lifestyle.
