Competition
• Best view of competition isn’t ‘What other companies are out there doing
the same thing I’m doing,’ it’s ‘how are people solving problems now and
where do I fit?’
Direct Competition
• Other companies that are doing more or less what you’re doing.
• Likely small differences in product lines, prices, messages, markets, etc.
• Relatively easy to identify and analyze
Indirect Competition
• Slightly more obscure
• How people are solving their problems now
• Harder to identify, needs a customer-focused analysis lens

Description
You will perform a competitive analysis for your start-up business concept. Use both of the formats of
visual comparison that I included in my video, along with a full 4P analysis of who you see as your closest
competitor, culminating in their main strengths and weaknesses. Finally, identify any gaps that you see in
the market based on your analysis. You should include at least four direct or indirect competitors.
Max Length
Five pages max, including your visual representations. You can include your reference page as an
additional page if you need to. Feel free to summarize important info using bullet points, photos, charts,
etc. if that’s the most efficient format for the information.
