How to Organize a Research Paper Outline
Follow these steps to start your research paper outline:

Decide about the subject of the paper
Write down all the ideas you want to include or discuss
Organize related ideas into sub-groups
Arrange your ideas into a hierarchy:
o What should the reader learn first?
o What is most important?
o Which idea will help conclude your paper most effectively?
Create effective headings and subheadings
Format the outline in either
o alphanumeric, (Section A. A1, A2/B1, B2)
o full sentence (Why is social media Important? / Social media is a distraction)
o decimal format (Section 1, Section 2)
Keep in mind that the outline includes only the points that you plan to discuss in the body
of the research. The outline does not include these sections:
o Abstract
o Literature review
o Primary Research
