Nursing Four Research Paper
Dr. Furco/ Professor Donohoe
NURS 250
Department of Nursing, Morrisville State College
Due date
An abstract is a quick overview or summary to help a reader to identify what your paper is about.
Your abstract should include your research topic with the objective included as well all the
components required for your paper. You should include the life stage, statistics and initiatives
at the national, state, and local levels, health promotion (primary, secondary, tertiary prevention,
the health belief model, and the four roles of the nurse. Your abstract should be a one doublespaced paragraph that is not indented. Your abstract needs to be 150-250 words to receive fullcredit. If you have questions, you should contact one of your course professors.
Nursing Research Paper
The introduction of your paper will have all the subtopics and sections to be reviewed
with the addition of the significance of the problem. You need to tell the reader what the paper is
about by providing a clear statement of the topic and complete, concise background information
of what you will be discussing. You will want to provide background information while
explaining the significance of why you chose the objective.
You will need to research the statistics of national, state, and local levels based on your
life stage and objective. If you can not find statistics for the objective that you are researching
you may want to choose a different objective for a more complete project. You will need to
provide a good understanding of the problem and its relevance to a CDC life stage group,
provide statistics at all levels and include a comparison of the different levels. If you have
questions about the objective you should contact the course professors.
Health Promotion
In this section you will be discussing primary, secondary, and tertiary aspects of health
promotion. You should define each component with appropriate citations. After defining the
individual component you will need to give specific examples in relationship to the life stage that
you are referencing and how it impacts the Healthy People (HP) 2030 objective for this paper.
Health Belief Model
For the health belief model, you may choose to search Google for ideas of the wide
variety of health belief models. A health belief model explains and predicts health-related
behaviors motivating individuals to take positive actions avoiding negative consequences.
Depending on the objective you will choose a model that is appropriate for the life stage you are
writing about. You should describe the health belief model with components defining the
framework. Then you should discuss how the health belief model influences the life stage to
accomplish the objective. For example, the Health Belief Model has five to six components,
depending on your resource: Perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits,
perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy. You should define each of these
components and then discuss the relationship of each component and your selected life stage.
You then will describe interventions you, as the nurse, would do in order to achieve the objective
in regards to the life stage.
You will be researching and writing about the national, state, and local initiatives that
will assist in achieving the objective and is appropriate for the target group or life stage that you
have chosen to write about. Initiatives are items that national, state, and local agencies spend
money on in order to achieve the objectives. There may be an overlapping of recourses or
initiatives from one or more of the levels but that needs to be addressed and documented
Roles of the Nurse
In this section you will thoroughly describe four (per APA format numbers less than 10
need to be spelled out) roles of the nurse in achieving the objective. The roles you will describe
are not hospital nurse, home care nurse, school nurse or similar positions. You will be
investigating roles such as communicator or as an advocate directly relate to assisting the target
population in meeting the HP2030 objective. Then you will discuss how each role impacts the
life stage in achieving the objective.
In your conclusion you will be summarizing and synthesizing what you have written
about in your paper. You will need to provide a strong view of the key points with insightful
discussion of the impact of the researched topic. Again, you will include all the components of
the paper as well as demonstrating the importance of your ideas. The conclusion also allows you
to give the reader a new view of the subject that you chose to research and write about in the
paper. You need to draw the paper to a reasonable conclusion that is powerful and validates the
papers’ purpose or thesis.
You need to have a minimum of eight references with at least four nursing journals. The
journal must have the name “nurse” or “nursing” in the title, not necessarily in the article. You
need to have the references in alphabetical order with hanging indents. (examples are as follows)

ed.). New York, New York: Springer Publishing.

Mental Health in Adolescents

Mental health is extremely important to human beings, because Mental health is essential to a
person’s well-being, their family and interpersonal relationships, and how one is able to
contribute to society. These disorders affect how a person thinks, their actions, their feelings,
their mood, which affect their relationship with themselves, their families and even society. They
may cause harm to themselves or others, even suicide. There are many factors that may
contribute to poor mental health. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable because they are in a
critical transitional period. Healthy People, is a website that provides goals and objects backed
by science to make informed health decisions. 1 in 3 high school students feel a sense of
hopelessness. For reasons like this, early intervention is important.
