Ques!on 21
What do you think would be different (whether posi”ve or nega”ve) if English
were declared the official language of the USA? What do you think would stay

Your Answer:
Declaring English as the official language of the USA would help in uni”ng the
American popula”on. Addi”onally, making English the official language would
save the government a lot of money as the resources used in providing translators
would be minimized. Regardless of declaring English as the official language of the
USA would not change the diversity of the American popula”on. Also, the
languages spoken in private businesses would not be affected by declaring
English as the official language.

Your Answer:
Declaring English as the official language of the USA would discourage the
popula”on from learning addi”onal languages hence crea”ng a nega”ve
implica”on for diplomacy and interna”onal trade. It would lead to minority groups
abandoning their languages and cultures as well. however, declaring English as
the official language would not change the diversity among the minority group as
they will s”ll con”nue engaging their cultures and using their local languages in
private businesses and local engagements.

Ques!on 21
What do you think would be different (whether posi”ve or nega”ve) if English

Your Answer:
Being the largely spoken and used language in America, declaring English as the
official language of the USA would enhance unity among the popula”on. being a
country of a diverse languages and cultures, making English the official language
would bring the people together and make easier for them to communicate as
they will be using a common language. Regardless of the changes that the move
may cause, one thing that would remain the same is the culture of the people.
Declaring English as the official language does not mean that the minority groups‟
cultures are interfered with.

Ques!on 20
If you selected “other” in Ques”on 19, which other language(s) would you
consider making official?
Your Answer:
None
Ques!on 21
What do you think would be different (whether posi”ve or nega”ve) if English
were declared the official language of the USA? What do you think would stay
the same?
Your Answer:
The values of the country would be contradicted if English is declared the official
language of the USA. Being a country of many immigrants, the linguis”c
minori”es would be protected hence sounding like they are being discriminated
against. Addi”onally, jobs will be lost because they are professional translators
who will be forced to leave their jobs as they will be nothing to translate. Despite
the effect the declara”on of English as the official language of USA would have,
the cultural diversity of the popula”on would s”ll remain the same.
