General Instructions
Within your tutorial group develop a short PowerPoint presentation. The presentation
should be no more than 6-8 PowerPoint Slides. The first slide should include the title of
the presentation and the names and student numbers of all students in the group. The
final slide should contain any references used in the presentation.
The time allowed for the presentation is a maximum of 12 minutes.
The presentation will be assessed on structure, flow, reflection and consideration of your
future development need.
Attendance at tutorial group presentations is COMPULSORY: watching both good and
not-so-good presentations is part of the Learning Journey.
The topic for the presentation is: Recruitment
Task
Using the case study 3.3 Recruitment and Skills Gaps in Fontainebleau and Oxygen (Hurrell and
Scholarios, 2014), develop a 12 minute presentation that answers the following questions.
1. What factors could potentially have led to Fontainebleau experiencing higher levels of
customer service skills gaps than Oxygen?
2. What perspectives on recruitment discussed in the chapter can be used to analyse
oxygen’s superior performance in terms of skills gaps and staff turnover?
3. Are there any apparent contradictions in terms of the recruitment approaches of
Fontainebleau and their subsequent experiences with turnover and skills gaps?
4. Are there any potential drawbacks with Oxygen’s approach to recruitment?
5. What recruitment approaches have organisations used during the Covid-19 pandemic to
bridge the costumer service demands?

Specification and Requirements
The Group Presentation will operate as follows:
1. Groups
1.1.
Presentations will be made by each group, with each group member presenting
a component.
1.2.
Groups should number 4 or 5 students and each student in the group should
answer at least one question.
1.3.
Group membership will be decided by class members
1.4.
Issues regarding membership should be made by email to the Course
Coordinator as soon as possible.
1.5.
Each Group is to elect a Liaison Leader to work/communicate directly with the
Course Coordinator as and when necessary.
1.6.
The Liaison Leader must submit a version of the group’s presentation to
MyAberdeen on behalf of all members of the group. The submission title for the
presentation should be the group number.
1.7. Submission:
Presentation due date will be during tutorial class time in week 11.
An electronic copy of the presentation must be submitted by the liaison student
on behalf of their group by:
23:59 pm on Thursday 2 nd December 2021
2. Presentation Requirements
2.1.
QB2006 Required ‘Main Learning Outcome’ Correlation:

within HRM (Recruitment and Selection)

individuals.
2.1.4.
Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the management of
HRM issues within contemporary business contexts
2.2.
Each group member will be required to make a 2-3 minute presentation,
supported by a visual support. Each should support the other to create
consistent, end-to-end narrative.
2.3.
The visual support should ideally be PowerPoint, although Prezi, Visme, or
similar are acceptable.
2.4.
Marks will be allocated for:

2.5.
2.4.1.
the degree the visual element supports the oral presentati on;
2.4.2.
the extent it demonstrates critical analysis of the topic
2.4.3.
the presentation criteria listed on the Evaluation Form below;
2.4.4.
professionalism and apparent effort.
As a rule of thumb, each student’s element shouldn’t need more than 1-2 slides
or slide-equivalent, i.e. approximately one (1) minute talk-time per visual aid.
2.5.1.
2.6.
The exceptions are those of the first and last presenters. The
Introductory slide should include the Title of the presentation and the
names and student numbers of all students in the group . The final
slide should contain all references for materials used in the
presentation (references are expected).
The whole Group will receive the same grade for the oral Presentation
element of the assignment – no distinction can be made unless one member is
clearly and demonstrably unprepared in relation to the others in the group.
