Please do not provide definitions of the performance indices as part of your analyses. Your ownership
team already knows what ADR, RevPar etc. mean. Your report showed critical-thinking and analysis
and NOT JUST STATING the facts.

Room and Food& Beverage Revenue Management – Three-Part Question
PART 1: Rooms Division (550 words maximum) Use the data chart above, do not use any reference!
Use your own knowledge
Hotel Pricing Strategies for the Rooms Division are established based on marketplace demands,
seasonality and competition among other factors. Revenue Management Strategies are established to
optimize and maximize rooms revenue and occupancy.
1. Discuss the challenges faced with pricing your rooms immediately after taking over an inefficient
hotel with limited facilities. What challenges did you consider when you raised your rates as you
improved the hotel’s product and services?
2. Provide a comparative analysis (Year 0 versus Year 1) of your ADR, RevPar and Occupancy%
performance indicators and how these affect your hotel’s operation and management decisions.
3. What other rooms-related criteria are available via HOTS to showcase your rooms performance to
date? Showcase and explain what these additional indicators demonstrate via an analysis in a chart
and/or graph form (maybe combined into one chart with the chart above).
PART 3: Industry Averages (50 words maximum)
What percentage of revenues and profits are typically generated from a full-service hotel in Rooms and
F&B in North America? Are these ratios about the same in other parts of the world? If not, what are
some examples of the differences by region and why do you think this is the case? For Part 2, please use
web sources and make sure to reference at least 2 sources.
