Description

After watching the pilot episode of the Emmy Award-winning Showtime series “Years of Living Dangerously” and reading the ESRI Story Map “Wildfires in the Western U.S.,” please prepare a reflection on how the materials affected you (I would suggest taking good notes and consult the rubric below, so you know the criteria). We will use the class time to discuss your findings (i.e. What have you learned from the movie and the story map? Has it changed your mind on something, or supported something you felt strongly about already, has it raised questions? Has awareness about the topics presented increased since the time of the movie’s release, how does climate change factor into California’s catastrophic fire seasons? Also, look at the bigger picture: How does each segment affect Earth in general and everyone/thing living on it? … etc.).

I will put the class into 4 breakout groups during our Zoom meeting, which will allow you to discuss and collaborate on your findings. Each group will then present their results to the whole class.

If you are unable to join us for the Zoom meeting on that day, please write a paper instead, and submit your work onto the link provided (4 double-spaced pages). Students who participate in the Zoom meetings will not need to submit a paper since we will discuss your findings during the meeting.
